Am I really the only one that's a little offended by the black girl on Glee? Yes? *sigh* Okay then.
Taking Back Sunday, Friday, I'm really really excited.

I am not fond of my insecurities. If he is only humouring me then he shall humour me all the longer. And if he is not well, then, that's another post all together.

Good lord the ACT made my head hurt.

A friend of mine who is a disability activist has ranted about the portrayal of people with disabilities in Glee. You're probably not the only person who is offended.

I've not watched it, as my friend's rant put me off the show completely.

According to my friend they're all stereotypes, which admittedly they kind of are, which is why I'm kind of uncomfortable with being offended about the Black Chick (and a little by the Gay Boy) but less so the other characters.

It is cute though, I'll give it that, at least, when I can turn my brain off long enough to watch it.

THE SCIENCE SECTION IS FUCKDICULOUS. Like, seriously, Reading and English were a breeze and math was. math. I'm horrible at math so. It was math. The science section was RIDICULOUS. The first time I took it that section was lolChartsandGraphs. This time was Charts and Graphs too but was RIDICULOUS and asking you to read things that factored in four or five elements of the charts and also FUCKDICULOUS.

Glee in general or the black character?

Glee because they're all SWEEPING GENERALIZATIONS. The gay boy's a big queen. The geeks are either disabled or painfully socially awkward. There are token races all over the place it just...there are lots of Unfortunate Implications.

Mercedes (the black character) in particular? Pretty much for the same reason, she's the amalgamation of every stereotype you can throw on a black character (bad attitude, loud, Amazing Gospel Voice (tm), bright (read:tacky) clothing, "ghetto" in what appears to be a pretty much suburban area etc.)

Mmm. I see what you mean. I guess I'm not offended because it's just like a every show? I guess that's a bad thing (not being offended), but yeah. Idk, I'm pretty amused by everything.

To be honest, I'm a little offended by all the characters on Glee. I'm not sure why they've decided to make their characters into such extreme stereotypes, but I'm worried that it's going to ruin the show for me. :/

I'm not sure why either. The fact that they're ALL that way makes it easier to swallow like...maybe there's a reason for it? Idk, I'm worried that its gonna be ruined too.
