my short short rant.

Yeah, so apparently today was "Talk About Society" day at my great-grandmother's house. And it sparked this mini-rant.

I dont like rap. Ok, thats a lie. Mainstream rap, does one of three things for me. (There are exceptions to this) Makes me want to dance. Fail to impress me with its lyricism. Disgusts me, for various reasons.

I'm a writer. I go to school for it. I am forced to do it on a regular basis. And one of the reasons why I liked rap, was the words and not only did you have to think of good lyrics, they were fuckin' metered. Whether intentional or not, for the lyrics to fit the beat they have to fit the beat. So freestyle rapping? Fucking impressive. And then come along, rappers who barely regard the beat with shitty lyrics and you're like, wait...whatthefuck?

Then there are the disgusting ones that make people hate rap and then possibly miss the one rap song that will change their life. And that makes me sad.
